The Moffett Group

Our successes include...

  • Leading and executing the political strategy, as well as a good portion of the media strategy, for a renewable energy client faced with stiff opposition to development of the world’s largest wind project in eastern Oregon. The project is now nearing completion.
  • Victory in getting the 9/11 First Responders Health Care legislation passed by creating a coalition, including our clients, of all the major New York City contractors and buildings, along with the AFL-CIO and its police and firefighter unions, to push for legislation that provided healthcare benefits for 9/11 workers. President Obama signed the bill into law on January 2, 2011.
  • Assisting VeruTek Technologies, a “green” environmental remediation company, in gaining listing on EPA’s National Contingency Plan for a safe, non-toxic and effective product to clean up oil spills.
  • Working with a coalition of national environmental groups, spearheading the lobbying efforts to oppose the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline and getting the US Department of State to conduct additional environmental reviews.
  • Playing a leading role on behalf of the Government of Morocco in the passage of the US-Moroccan Free Trade Agreement.
  • Victory in leading the efforts of a major national coalition to override a presidential veto in order to enable passage of securities litigation reform legislation. This was the result of a broad and deep coalition of high-tech companies, accounting firms, and others.
  • In the midst of the housing crisis, bringing together Marshall & Swift, the country’s leading appraisal information provider, with top consumer groups like the National Consumers League and the National Community Reinvestment Coalition to fight for increased standards and accountability in home appraisals.
  • On behalf of its client, the President of the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), the Moffett Group, partnering with the Wildlife Conservation Society and the World Wildlife Fund to bring attention to the Congo Basin's enormous ecological benefits for the world.
  • Assisting one of the country’s largest privately-held renewable energy companies in expanding production through direct intervention with the US Secretary of the Navy in order to satisfactorily have the client’s contract renegotiated for production of geothermal energy in the Mojave Desert.
  • Leading the effort to create The African Technology for Education and Workforce Development Initiative (AFTECH), a distance learning project for students in African universities that included creating partnerships between US colleges and universities and their African counterparts, creating a vision for expansion from a pilot project, and raising funds from US government and private sources to support the project.
